Inter, Chivu reveals: Pio was unwell, Bonny had a fever
After the derby defeat against Milan, the Nerazzurri coach explained the conditions of the two forwards before the match.
After the 3-1 derby defeat against Milan, Cristian Chivu clarified the physical conditions of Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny. The Inter attacking choices had raised several questions, but the coach provided some background on the difficulties faced by the two young forwards before the game.
“Pio was not feeling well,” Chivu explained. Bonny’s situation was even more complicated: according to the coach, the French forward had a fever until 4:30 p.m. The manager’s words therefore describe a difficult preparation, with neither player arriving at the derby in ideal condition. Milan went on to win 3-1, handing the Nerazzurri defeat in the city derby.
Inter’s schedule allows no pause: on Tuesday, November 3, at 9 p.m., they will travel to face Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Champions League. Chivu’s team enter the fixture after a 2-0 win over Venezia on October 28 and a 2-1 victory against Fiorentina on October 25, but also after the derby setback that must now be left behind.
