Inter: after the derby, Lautaro and Barella also come under fire
The defeat against Milan fuels criticism on social media: Chivu is not the only target, with two Nerazzurri leaders also under scrutiny.
The derby defeat has created a problem that goes beyond Cristian Chivu’s position. After Inter’s 3-1 loss to Milan, numerous critical messages aimed at Lautaro Martinez and Nicolò Barella appeared on social media. The coach remains the main target of the protests, but part of the fanbase also considers the two most representative players partly responsible for the team’s collapse.
Online discussions are focused mainly on the performance delivered in the city derby. Lautaro has been criticized for producing less than expected from the captain, while Barella has once again come under scrutiny after a performance judged below standard. The midfielder had acknowledged Inter’s poor approach and admitted that Milan deserved the victory. The tension therefore involves both coach and players, rather than being limited to Chivu’s tactical decisions.
The schedule leaves no time to dwell on the disappointment: on Tuesday, November 3 at 9 p.m., Inter will visit Feyenoord in the Champions League. The Nerazzurri come into the game after beating Fiorentina 2-1, winning 2-0 in Venice and losing the derby. After the European trip, Inter-Como is scheduled for Sunday, November 8 at 6 p.m.
