Zidane explains Thuram call-up: “A chance to see him”
The France head coach explained his decision to call up the Inter striker: “I wanted to see him up close.”
Marcus Thuram’s call-up to the France squad has been explained by Zidane. The Bleus head coach clarified why he selected the Inter striker, bringing him into the group in order to assess him directly in an international setting.
“Why did I call up Thuram? It is a chance to see him,” Zidane said, suggesting that the decision was also driven by the desire to evaluate the Nerazzurro’s performances and qualities more closely. The coach added: “I wanted to...”, although the reported statement contains no further details about his intentions. For Thuram, the call-up nevertheless confirms the importance he has earned in France’s hierarchy.
The news comes a few days before Inter’s match against Como, scheduled for Sunday 8 November 2026 at 18:00. Chivu’s team are looking for consistency after beating Venezia 2-0 and losing the derby 3-1 to Milan, while they defeated Feyenoord 3-0 in the Champions League. Thuram is expected to remain one of Inter’s attacking leaders in the next match at San Siro.
