Vanoli warns Inter: “De Gea is captain, no room for complacency”
The Fiorentina coach backs the Spanish goalkeeper’s leadership and demands maximum focus from the Viola against the Nerazzurri.
Ahead of the match against Inter, Paolo Vanoli addressed Fiorentina’s leadership issue, clearly identifying David De Gea as the dressing room’s main reference point. The Viola coach also called for maximum concentration ahead of Sunday’s appointment, scheduled for October 25 at 12:30 at San Siro.
“De Gea is my captain, there is no debate,” Vanoli said, outlining a clear hierarchy and confirming his trust in the Spanish goalkeeper. The coach then highlighted the attitude his players must show against the Nerazzurri: Fiorentina cannot approach the game with complacency, but must display respect and attention, qualities needed to compete with Inter.
For Inter, this will be a return to Serie A after the 3-1 victory at Bologna on October 17. Chivu’s team also come into the match after a 1-0 win over Shakhtar on October 21 in the Champions League, following the previous 4-3 home defeat against Club Brugge. The Fiorentina fixture will come before the trip to Venezia on October 28 and the derby on October 31.
