Vanoli admits Fiorentina are fragile at the back: Oulai must earn his chance
The Viola coach previews the Inter clash, calling for greater defensive balance and concrete answers from every player.
Ahead of Fiorentina’s visit to San Siro, scheduled for Sunday 25 October at 12:30, Paolo Vanoli identified defensive work as his team’s main concern. The Viola coach acknowledged the difficulties faced by his side and stressed the need to find a more balanced structure quickly.
The central issue during the press conference was the number of goals conceded. In Vanoli’s view, Fiorentina are allowing too many goals and cannot make progress without fixing that weakness. The coach also discussed Oulai, making it clear that the player has no guaranteed place in the team: he must earn opportunities through his work and performances. In the coach’s view, that standard applies to the whole squad.
Inter go into the match after a 1-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar on 21 October. In Serie A, the Nerazzurri defeated Bologna 3-1 on 17 October, while their previous European game against Club Brugge ended in a 4-3 defeat. After Fiorentina, Inter will face Venezia on 28 October and Milan in the derby on 31 October.
