Thuram, Inter build a wall: the Premier League stays distant
The striker’s performances strengthen Inter’s desire to protect him from English interest and keep him central to the project.
Inter do not want to put Marcus Thuram on the market. Reports published on October 26 point to a clear position from the club: the French striker is considered a player to be tied down, while interest from the Premier League is being kept at a distance. The club’s message comes after a start to the season in which the number 9 has strengthened his importance in the Nerazzurri attack.
The decision is linked to the player’s development and his ability to contribute when a match demands work, runs in behind and physical presence. Inter therefore do not regard Thuram’s situation as a simple transfer-market issue: the priority is to preserve a player viewed as important for both the present and the future. At this stage, no official figures or definitive details regarding a possible new agreement have emerged.
The Frenchman reaches this stage after the 2-1 win over Fiorentina, following victories against Bologna and Shakhtar. Inter will now face Venezia on Wednesday, October 28 at 18:30, before the Milan derby on Saturday, October 31 at 20:45. Thuram’s management will therefore be important during a busy week that also includes the Champions League trip to Feyenoord on November 3 at 21:00.
