Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk have developed a recent European rivalry. The most significant meeting remains the 2019/20 Europa League semifinal, won 5-0 by the Nerazzurri, with Lautaro Martínez also scoring twice.
In the 2020/21 Champions League group stage, however, both matches ended goalless. This game adds a new chapter to a balanced matchup, with Inter looking for valuable points in their European campaign.
