Inter, Lautaro’s return is still unclear: the attack changes shape
Chivu’s Inter maintain their scoring output without the captain, but Thuram, Esposito and Bonny have different duties and impact.
Lautaro Martinez’s return remains one of the main issues surrounding Inter. The captain is unavailable for Cristian Chivu’s team and no precise date has been given for his comeback. Lautaro’s absence has not stopped the Nerazzurri from maintaining the same number of goals in the matches under consideration.
The figures, however, conceal an important difference in how the attacking burden is shared. Marcus Thuram must take greater responsibility in the final third, while Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny are asked to provide different options in the forward line. With Lautaro on the pitch, his movement, leadership and ability to influence play between the lines change the way Inter create chances. His recovery therefore remains crucial, even though the team is still scoring.
Inter head into the Como match after beating Venezia 2-0, losing the derby 3-1 to Milan and defeating Feyenoord 3-0 in the Champions League. The next fixture is on Sunday, November 8, at 18:00 against Como. Chivu must once again manage the attack without knowing when Lautaro will return.
