Inter-Fiorentina, Chivu asks for solidity and a boost for Pio Esposito
Against Fiorentina, Inter want to confirm their defensive progress and help Pio Esposito regain confidence and importance.
On the eve of Inter-Fiorentina, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 12:30, Cristian Chivu has identified two priorities for the Nerazzurri: preserving the compactness shown in recent matches and relaunching Pio Esposito. The striker is under the spotlight ahead of the next Serie A fixture.
The request for defensive solidity comes after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Shakhtar in the Champions League. Inter responded to the heavy 4-3 defeat against Club Brugge on October 13 with a more organized performance. The 3-1 win away to Bologna on October 17 had also shown a team capable of conceding less and managing different phases of the match more effectively. Chivu now wants continuity, while Esposito is expected to recover space and form.
The match against Fiorentina will open an intense week. After Sunday’s game, Inter will face Venezia on Wednesday, October 28 at 18:30, followed by Milan on Saturday, October 31 at 20:45. The coach must therefore balance the need to protect his goal with the objective of making the most of every attacking option available.
