Inter and the habit of falling behind: Chivu must change course
Comebacks against Bologna and Fiorentina rewarded Inter, but repeatedly chasing games could take its toll during a busy schedule.
Cristian Chivu’s Inter continue to face a clear issue: having to react after conceding the opening blow. Fiorentina exposed the same problem on Sunday, October 25 at San Siro, although the Nerazzurri turned the match around to win 2-1. That followed a 3-1 victory over Bologna on October 17, while in the Champions League Shakhtar were beaten 1-0 without Inter needing a comeback.
The concern is not only the final result, which has often been positive, but also the energy required to put matches back on track. Inter have shown the character and quality needed to change the momentum, yet the task becomes more demanding when the team spends long stretches chasing the game. With a crowded schedule, turning those reactions into greater consistency from the opening whistle could become an important step for Chivu.
There is no break in the calendar: on Wednesday, October 28 at 18:30, Inter visit Venezia in Serie A, before facing Milan on Saturday, October 31 at 20:45. On Tuesday, November 3 at 21:00, the Nerazzurri travel to Feyenoord in Europe. After two consecutive league wins and success against Shakhtar, avoiding further comebacks would help manage their energy.
