Icardi looks to Inter: “I would like to close the circle differently”
The former Nerazzurri captain discusses his past, his divorce from Wanda Nara and his wish to return to Italy for an ambitious project.
Mauro Icardi is still waiting for a new club, but his bond with Inter remains strong. The former Nerazzurri striker explained that a return to Milan would carry special meaning, although only complete agreement between the parties and a shared objective could make it possible. His aim would be to return to Italy as a leading figure and pursue victory, rather than simply rely on nostalgia.
Looking back on his Inter experience, Icardi admitted that he would handle certain stages of his relationship with the club differently. Losing the captain’s armband affected him deeply, while a knee problem forced him to play with injections. He said that the seriousness of the injury was not properly acknowledged, making that period even more difficult. With the maturity he has gained, he would now deal with those moments more clearly.
The Argentine also rejected the image of a footballer more focused on his public persona than on performance. To those who believe he has nothing left to offer, Icardi wants to answer on the pitch. He received offers but chose not to join a destination he did not fully believe in.
On a personal level, his divorce from Wanda Nara brought an important chapter to an end. Alongside Eugenia, Icardi says he is enjoying a peaceful and genuine period. Italy remains part of his plans: he wants to return with a project capable of reigniting his enthusiasm and ambition.
