Handanovic and Inter: “I was meant to coach the Primavera, I dream of returning”
The former Nerazzurri goalkeeper discusses the youth-team project that fell through and explains his departure: “I would like to return”
Samir Handanovic has spoken again about his relationship with Inter, revealing a detail concerning the club’s youth sector. The former Nerazzurri goalkeeper explained that the initial plan was for him to take charge of the Primavera, an assignment that ultimately did not materialize. That led to his decision to part ways with the club while waiting for another professional opportunity.
During the interview, Handanovic explained why he left Appiano Gentile, while making clear that his connection with Inter is not considered over. His publicly stated wish is to return to work for the club one day: “I dream of returning.” The idea confirms his interest in a technical and developmental role, following a long spell as a leading figure between the posts for the Nerazzurri.
For Inter, the story brings renewed attention to the Primavera, who recently lost 2-0 to Roma. The first team, meanwhile, enters the derby after three victories: 1-0 against Shakhtar, 2-1 against Fiorentina and 2-0 at Venezia. Milan-Inter is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at 20:45.
