Fabregas-Inter, new background: Ausilio wanted him after Inzaghi
The Como coach has been close to Inter on several occasions: the latest move involved the post-Inzaghi era and Chivu.
Sunday’s meeting between Inter and Como brings Cesc Fabregas back into focus, but his connection with the Nerazzurri dates back 23 years. According to a reconstruction by Corriere della Sera, the Spanish coach has been linked with Inter several times, without the talks ever turning into an agreement.
The latest chapter came during the search for Simone Inzaghi’s successor. Sporting director Piero Ausilio reportedly tried to persuade Fabregas, who had already studied Cristian Chivu’s profile in the meantime. The choice eventually fell on the former Romanian defender, now in charge of the first team. The background adds a new element to a rivalry that has also developed away from the pitch.
Inter enter the game after beating Venezia 2-0, losing the derby 3-1 to Milan and earning a clear 3-0 victory in Rotterdam against Feyenoord. Chivu’s side will face Como on Sunday, November 8, at 18:00, aiming to build on the European result and revive their Serie A momentum.
