Derby, Chivu changes the defense: Akanji set to start
The Nerazzurri coach is preparing for Saturday’s derby: Akanji is expected to start in defense, while Josep Martinez remains the choice in goal.
Cristian Chivu is finalising his plans for the Milan derby. On the eve of the match between Milan and Inter, scheduled for Saturday 31 October at 20:45, the Nerazzurri coach appears ready to select Manuel Akanji in defense. It would be a significant change to the lineup expected to face the Rossoneri.
Josep Martinez should keep his place in goal, having already been identified as the starter for the derby. The main focus is therefore on the defensive setup, with Akanji in contention to begin the match. Chivu will complete his assessment in the final hours before the San Siro clash, with the aim of fielding a team ready after the victory in Venice.
Inter go into the derby on a three-match winning run: a 1-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar on 21 October, a 2-1 win against Fiorentina on 25 October and a 2-0 success away to Venezia on 28 October. After Milan, the Nerazzurri face Feyenoord on Tuesday 3 November at 21:00 in the Champions League.
