Curtis Jones backs Inter: “They can win the Champions League”
The Liverpool midfielder ranks the Nerazzurri among the teams capable of going all the way: “Serie A is slower than the Premier League”
Curtis Jones has raised the level of Inter’s ambitions. The Liverpool player has named the Nerazzurri among the teams capable of winning the Champions League, recognising that Chivu’s side have enough quality to target the biggest European prize. His comments arrive before another fixture in Inter’s schedule, during a period already packed with consecutive commitments.
The English midfielder also compared Italian football with the Premier League. In Jones’ view, Serie A appears to be played at a slower pace than the English competition, but he believes there is a precise explanation for that difference. The former Liverpool player added that a similar situation also occurred when he played at Anfield, meaning the lower intensity should not be viewed simply as a weakness of the Italian league. His assessment of Inter, however, is clear: they can win the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri come into the game after a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar on October 21, following the 3-4 home defeat by Club Brugge and the 3-1 win in Bologna. Today, Sunday October 25 at 12:30, Inter face Fiorentina at San Siro. Venezia follow on October 28 at 18:30, before the derby against Milan on October 31 at 20:45.
