Crespo backs Inter for the title: “I pick the Nerazzurri, but...”

Hernán Crespo has taken a position on the Serie A title race, giving Inter the status of the team to beat for the championship. The former Nerazzurri striker, speaking on the day Lazio defeated Sassuolo, added a “but...” to his prediction, leaving the season’s picture open.

Crespo described Lazio’s performance as “super” and sent a clear message to those who had criticized Gennaro Gattuso: in the Argentine’s view, many people should apologize to the coach. It was a public defense of the manager and, at the same time, recognition of the strength shown by Lazio, which he considers a credible contender in the title battle.

The assessment comes as Inter prepare to face Venezia at the Penzo on Wednesday, October 28, at 18:30. The Nerazzurri have won their last three official games: 3-1 at Bologna, 1-0 against Shakhtar in the Champions League and 2-1 against Fiorentina. After Venezia come the derby against Milan on Saturday, October 31, at 20:45, and the European trip to Feyenoord on Tuesday, November 3, at 21:00.
