Chivu warns Inter: “We will need our best version in the derby”
The Nerazzurri coach previews the clash with Milan and urges his team to ignore the standings: only the performance matters.
On the eve of the Serie A derby, scheduled for Saturday 31 October at 20:45, Cristian Chivu outlined his expectations for Inter. Against Milan, the Nerazzurri coach is demanding a complete performance without any drop in intensity, fully aware of the importance of the fixture.
“We will need our best version to take it home; the standings do not matter,” was the message delivered by the coach. Chivu therefore shifted the focus away from the numbers and towards the pitch: in a match like this, he believes the teams’ current form and league position cannot be enough of a reference. His aim is for Inter to approach the contest with maximum intensity and the qualities shown in their recent outings.
Inter enter the derby on the back of three straight wins: a 1-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar on 21 October, followed by a 2-1 win against Fiorentina and a 2-0 success away to Venezia. After facing Milan, the Nerazzurri will travel to Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday 3 November at 21:00.
