Champions race: Napoli already 11 points behind Inter
The gap between Napoli and the Nerazzurri leaders grows: Roma and Milan are seven points back, while Lazio are level with Inter.
Napoli are already being forced to chase in the race for the top places in Serie A. In the standings updated on October 25, the Azzurri are eleven points behind Inter and Lazio. Roma and Milan are closer instead: both teams sit seven points away from the summit occupied by the Nerazzurri.
The figure captures a table that is beginning to split into several groups. Inter and Lazio are out in front; Roma and Milan remain in touch with the leading positions; Napoli are further away and must make up ground. The gap does not settle the race, but it makes the Azzurri’s recovery more difficult and increases the importance of every upcoming result.
Inter come into this stage on a run of three official wins: 3-1 away to Bologna on October 17, 1-0 against Shakhtar in the Champions League on October 21, and 2-1 over Fiorentina at San Siro on October 25. The schedule now brings Venezia-Inter on Wednesday, October 28 at 18:30, followed by the derby against Milan on Saturday, October 31 at 20:45. On Tuesday, November 3 at 21:00, Inter travel to Feyenoord in Europe.
