Bergomi praises Inter: “Their best defensive display against Shakhtar”
The former Nerazzurri captain approves Inter’s performance and explains the impact of the sending-off on the team.
Beppe Bergomi gave his full approval to Inter’s performance against Shakhtar, a Champions League match won 1-0 by the Nerazzurri on October 21. The former captain identified defensive work as the team’s main strength, highlighting the solidity with which the group protected its lead.
In his assessment, Bergomi called it Inter’s best defensive performance of the year. His judgment was based on the Nerazzurri’s ability to remain compact and manage the most difficult phases of the game. According to the former defender, the sending-off produced a particular reaction: rather than breaking the team apart, it triggered an emotional response and increased the players’ focus and concentration.
The victory followed the 4-3 defeat to Club Brugge on October 13 and the 3-1 win at Bologna on October 17. Inter will now prepare for their Serie A meeting with Fiorentina, scheduled for Sunday, October 25 at 12:30. After the San Siro fixture, the calendar includes Venezia on October 28 at 18:30 and the derby against Milan on October 31 at 20:45.
