Bergomi insists: “Inter needed a different signing, not a fifth striker”
The former Nerazzurri captain restates his view of Inter’s summer window: adding another forward was not the club’s priority.
Beppe Bergomi has returned to the choices made by Inter during the latest transfer window, repeating criticism he had already voiced. In the former Nerazzurri captain’s view, the club should have invested in a signing different from a fifth striker, focusing instead on another area of the squad. The issue was raised again on November 3, 2026, on the day of Inter’s Champions League trip to Feyenoord.
Bergomi’s stance is clear and is not linked to the need for more attacking numbers. “I keep saying it: Inter should have made this signing in the summer,” he reiterated, without presenting another centre-forward as the main priority. His argument therefore concerns the team’s overall balance and the club’s ability to address a weakness identified while building the squad.
The comments come after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina and a 2-0 success at Venezia, followed by the 3-1 derby defeat against Milan on October 31. Inter now face Feyenoord at 21:00 at De Kuip, before hosting Como on November 8 at 18:00. The European match is the next test for the Nerazzurri squad.
