Altobelli warns Inter: “Thuram is essential and must not be sold”
The former Nerazzurri striker backs the Frenchman and calls on Inter to make him a cornerstone of the project.
Alessandro Altobelli has spoken out about Marcus Thuram’s future. In a statement reported today, Tuesday October 27, 2026, by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Inter striker described the Frenchman as a vital member of the Nerazzurri squad. His message is clear: Thuram cannot be allowed to leave.
According to Altobelli, the number 9 is indispensable to Inter’s squad. His assessment is not limited to recent performances, but also concerns the importance the player has acquired within the technical project. For that reason, the former striker believes the club must protect him from market interest and keep the Frenchman at the heart of its ambitions. His comments come after the issues already raised about the forward’s future.
Inter have just beaten Fiorentina 2-1, following victories over Bologna, defeated 3-1, and Shakhtar, beaten 1-0 in the Champions League. Cristian Chivu’s team will now visit Venezia on Wednesday, October 28, at 18:30. The derby against Milan follows on Saturday, October 31, at 20:45: another fixture in which Thuram’s contribution will be central.
